Nifty Below 5900, SBI Hits 52-week Low

The Indian markets continued with selling in the afternoon session. Most of the selling was seen in the banking sector in the mid-session. The Nifty is trading at 5903 and Sensex is trading down at 19,780. The indices are trading in a negative range of 0.14%-0.12%.

The advance-decline ratio is on the negative side. On the NSE, 1300 shares are trading in green and 2003 shares are in red.
Top Nifty Gainers: ITC is leading the gainers’ list so far, up by 2.5%, followed by Sun Pharma, Ambuja Cement, Hero MotoCorp and M&M are also in gains.
Top Nifty Losers: Hindalco is leading the losers’ list so far, down by 6.36%, followed by Sesa Goa, PNB, Coal India and HUL.
On the sectoral front, 8 of the 13 sectors are trading in red in the afternoon trading session. Metals was down by 233 points, followed by Bankex and Auto, down by 103 points and 61 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were down by 42 points and 50 points correspondingly. However, Oil & Gas and Healthcare are up by 28 points and 25 points respectively. Consumer Durables was also up by 16 points.
All the Asian markets are trading on a mixed note. Nikkei is down by 432 points. However, Hang Seng is up by 67 points. Shanghai Composite and Taiwan were nominally down.
Buzzers: Hindalco moved by 7% and made a low at Rs 93.80. If the stock breaks this low, it may see a downmove up to Rs 86.
Nifty made a low at the 5870 level, which is a major intraday support level. If it crosses the 5900 level, it may see 5930 on closing basis.
