Markets Remain Choppy, End Lower

The Indian markets have been witnessing choppy trades for two consecutive days. Today, after stocks like MCX and Financial Technologies tumbled, the Nifty ended down by 14 points at 5727 and Sensex was down 28 points at 19317.

The advance-decline ratio ended on the negative side. On the NSE, 1237 shares closed in green, while 2054 shares were in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Axis Bank closed the day with the top gains, up by 4.5%. HUL, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC were among the other key gainers.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: JP Associates was the top loser, down by 10.2%, followed by Ranbaxy Labs, Bank of Baroda, DLF and BPCL.
By the end of the day, 12 out of 13 sectors remained in the red zone. Oil & Gas was the top loser, down by 222. Auto and Metals were down by 150 points and 129 points respectively. Only Bankex ended on a positive note, up by 137 points.
The Asian markets closed on a positive note. The Nikkei market was the top gainer, up by 337 points. Hang Seng also ended higher by 205 points. KOSPI and Straits Times ended with marginal gains.
Buzzers: DLF has announced its exit from the life insurance business by selling 74% stake in its joint venture DLF Pramerica Life Insurance to Dewan Housing Finance. After the announcement, the stock was down by 7.8% to make a new 52-week low of Rs 137.
JP Associates crashed by over 10% today and made a new 52-week low of Rs 31.10.
The Nifty index was strongly volatile on both sides. The 5750 level will be a pivot for the next trading session.
