Suven Life Secures 3 Product Patents For NCEs

Suven Life Sciences has announced that it has received 3 product patents, one each from New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea, pertaining to its New Chemical Entities (NCEs) for the treatment of disorders associated with Neurodegenerative diseases. The three patents are valid through 2029, 2030 and 2028 respectively.

The NCEs are being developed as therapeutic agents and are indicated in the treatment of cognitive impairment associated with neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Huntington’s disease, Parkinsons and Schizophrenia.

With these three patents, the total tally of patents granted to Suven Life has now gone up to 17 in New Zealand, 16 in Singapore and 11 in South Korea. The company has achieved this through its in-house discovery research efforts. In its press release, the company has said that the products developed out of these inventions may be out-licensed at various phases of clinical development, and hence, it would see a rise in its licensing income going ahead. However, it is too early to comment on this.

As regards this development, Venkat Jasti, CEO of Suven Life Sciences commented, "We are very pleased by the grant of these patents to Suven for our pipeline of molecules in CNS arena that are being developed for cognitive disorders with high unmet medical need with huge market potential globally”.

The shares of the company are trading 4% higher on this news.
