Trades Close Negative

The Indian markets saw selling pressure in the closing session today, especially the IT and Capital Goods sectors. Nifty closed around its day’s low, down by 43 point at 6045 and Sensex was 132 points down at 20415. Both the indices ended negative in the range of -0.64%-0.71%.
On the NSE, 1533 shares closed in green, while 1561 shares ended the day in red, with a balanced advance-decline ratio.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: JP Associates closed with the highest gains on the index, up by 7.19%. Bharti Airtel, ONGC, ITC and Ranbaxy were among the other stocks that ended the day higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: HCL Tech closed lower by 6.7%, followed by TCS, IndusInd Bank, L&T and Tata Motors, all in negatives.
Most the sectoral indices also closed in the red zone. IT was lower by 314 points, and Capital Goods and Auto were both down by 150 points. However Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables gained 116 points and 99 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended with a nominally positive bias.
In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng closed 133 points lower, while Nikkei and Taiwan Weighted were up by 119 points and 42 points respectively. KOSPI and Straits Times also closed the day in positives.
Buzzer: L&T lost 4% today. The scrip saw selling in the last session after Q2 numbers are expected to be lower. The stock closed near the technical level of Rs 840. If it opens tomorrow’s trades below this level, it may see more fall in its prices.
Nifty Future closed with good support around the 6050 level, which will be a pivot for tomorrow’s trade.
