Indices Lower By Over 1%

The Indian markets have continued to witness heavy selling pressure. The Nifty is down by 72 points at 6129 and Sensex has lost 235 points to touch 20630. At present, all the sectoral indices are trading in the red.

The Indian markets continued to see heavy selling pressure during mid-session today. At present, all the sectoral indices are trading in the red. Currently, the Nifty is down by 72 points at 6129 and Sensex has lost 235 points to touch 20630. The indices are trading lower between -1.12%-1.20%.

The advance-decline ratio has moved into the negatives. On the NSE, 1408 shares are in the green and 1730 shares are in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: GAIL is up by 3.03% so far in the day. Other stocks trading higher include Bank of Baroda, NMDC, Cipla and SBI.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: DLF is leading the losers list, dipping by 4.9%, followed by Cairn India, JP Associates, Wipro and NTPC.

Among the sectors, Auto has lost 203 points, Oil & Gas is down by 121 points and Health Care has dipped by 115 points. IT and Metals also took deep cuts, both down by 90 points. The Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indices are both around 40 points into the negatives.

The Asian markets are also trading in the red. Hang Seng is trading lower by 300 points, while Nikkei and Shanghai Composite are in the negatives.

Buzzer: DLF has lost around 4.4% so far in the day. The stock is trading below its major support of Rs 160, and may continue with the current momentum if it closes below this level.

Nifty Futures continued to trade below its support level of 6180. If the index closes below this level, the negative scenario may persist.
