Nifty At 6300, Record Turnover In Market

Today, the Nifty hit the 6300 level for the first time since November 2010, ending 47 points higher at 6299. The Sensex was up 130 points at 21164. The markets also saw the highest turnover for a single trading day.

The markets also saw the highest turnover for a single trading day. The Nifty ended 47 points higher at 6299 and Sensex was up 130 points at 21164. Both the indices ended positive in the range of 0.62%-0.76%.
On the NSE, 1649 shares closed in the green, while 1528 shares ended the day in red, with a positive advance-decline ratio.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Bank of Baroda closed with the highest gains on the index, up by 10.61%, despite a poor set of quarterly results. PNB, SBI, JP Associates and IDFC were among the other stocks that ended the day higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Dr Reddy’s Labs closed lower by 2.6%, followed by Ambuja Cements, Lupin, Sun Pharma and Ranbaxy.
All the sectoral indices closed in the positives today, apart from Healthcare. Bankex gained 248 points. Consumer Durables and Metals were up by 163 points and 156 points respectively. Mid-Caps surged by 86 points and Small-Caps moved up by 31 points. The FMCG, IT and Auto indices ended nominally in gains.
In the Asian markets, Nikkei closed 174 points lower, Hang Seng was 97 points down and Taiwan Index dipped by 15 points.
Buzzer: Among the stocks that made their new 52-week highs in today’s session were Dr. Reddy’s Labs (Rs 2545), Ajanta Pharma (Rs 906), Asian Paints (Rs 541), CESC (Rs 379), Firstsource Solutions (Rs 20.90), JB Chemicals (Rs104.75), Justdial (Rs 1265) and PVR (Rs 593).
