Indices Close Higher, JP Associates Gains 9%

The Indian markets witnessed good strength until the close of trades today. Nifty closed 84 points higher at 6176 and Sensex was up 257 points at 20791. All the sectoral indices closed positive, with Metals, Oil & Gas and PSU indices moved strongly up after mid-session.
The Indian markets witnessed good strength till the closing session today. The Metals, Oil & Gas and PSU indices surged after mid-session. By end of the day, Nifty was 84 points higher at 6176 and Sensex was up 257 points at 20791. Both the indices gained over 1.2%.The advance-decline ratio on the NSE remained on the positive side, with 1816 shares closing in the green and 1432 shares in the red.
Top Nifty Gainers: JP Associates closed higher by 9% in today’s trade, followed by NMDC, Bank of Baroda, Sesa Sterlite and BHEL.
Top Nifty Losers: Mahindra & Mahindra ended the day lower by 1.4%. NTPC, Wipro, Hero MotoCorp and Asian Paints were among the other stocks that closed the day in the red.
All the sectoral indices closed in positives today. Bankex was the top gainer, up by 275 points. Capital Goods and Metals were higher by 172 points and 162 points respectively, while IT, FMCG and Healthcare were each up by more than 50 points. Both Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also gained 50 points.
On the Asian front, Hang Seng was the top gainer of the day, up by 92 points. Taiwan Weighted finished 44 points higher. Nikkei, though, was down by 65 points at closing.
Buzzer: The stock of NMDC has been witnessing volatile trades in the past few trading sessions. The stock made an intraday high of Rs 133 and closed around this top. If it opens above this level in Monday’s trades, it may touch Rs 150 level in the next 3-4 sessions.
Nifty Futures closed above the technical level of 6200 today, and may continue with its current momentum as long as it sustains above this level.
