Metals Shine In A Dull Market

The Indian markets witnessed trades in a tight range during the mid-market session. Nifty is down by 8 points at 6193 and Sensex has dipped 42 points to touch 20811. Among the sectors, Metals saw the highest gains, moving up by 91 points.
The Indian markets witnessed trades in a tight range during the mid-market session. A similar scenario was seen in the currency segment, wherein the INR was seen trading at around 63.34 to a dollar. Sensex and Nifty were under pressure in noon trades. Nifty is down by 8 points at 6193 and Sensex has dipped 42 points to touch 20811. The indices are trading negative by 0.30%-0.18%.
The advance-decline ratio on the NSE is on the positive side, with 1677 shares in the green and 1569 shares in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tata Power is leading the gainers list so far, up by 3%. Jaiprakash Associates, Sesa Sterlite, NMDC and Jindal Steel are among other gainers.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: ICICI Bank is trading lower by 1.88%, followed by Larsen & Toubro, HUL, Hindalco and ONGC.
Metals saw the highest gains in the mid-market session, moving up by 91 points. IT gained 50 points and Consumer Durables are higher by 40 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were also both up by about 15 points and 42 points respectively.
The Asian markets are trading on a mixed note. Nikkei is the top loser so far, down by 341 points. Hang Seng is 124 points in negatives. Straits Times and KOSPI are also under some pressure.
Buzzer: The stock of Jyothy Labs has jumped nearly 6%, touching Rs 199.90. This was after the company said it has allotted 1.5 crore equity shares aggregating Rs 262.72 crore to Sahyadri Agencies on preferential allotment basis. The stock may reach levels of around Rs 205 at closing.
Nifty Futures is struggling to break the 6250 level. If it closes above 6250, we could see some uptrend in the sessions ahead.
