The Indian markets saw a fair amount of volatility in trades, but saw some recovery at closing. Nifty was 38 points higher at 6259 and Sensex was up by 38 points at 20996. All the sectors barring IT closed positive. Nifty Futures also closed above the technical level of 6300.
Right from the opening session, the Indian markets were extremely volatile, albeit in a small range. The indices saw some recovery at closing, Nifty 38 points higher at 6259 and Sensex up by 38 points at 20996. Both indices closed positive by over 0.2%.
Top Nifty Gainers: Tata Power closed higher by 5.8% in today’s trades, followed by NTPC, Coal India, Axis Bank and Power Grid Corp.
Top Nifty Losers: HDFC ended the day lower by 1.66%. Ranbaxy Labs, Hindalco, HUL and Bharti Airtel were among the other stocks that closed in negatives.
Apart from IT, all the other sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Capital Goods and Consumer Durables provided good support, up by 80 points and 70 points respectively. Bankex, Auto and Metals also moved up by around 60 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps remained in positives. However IT was closed on the red mark.
In the other Asian markets, Nikkei was the top gainer for the day, up by 122 points. Hang Seng market also up by 30 points. However, Taiwan Weighted, KOSPI and Shanghai Composite closed on a negative note.
Buzzer: Tata Power has seen has seen positive momentum over the past few sessions, and rallied by more than 5% today. The stock made an intraday high of Rs 89.90. If it opens above this level, it may break the technical level of Rs 100.
Nifty Futures has given a bullish indicator on the chart, closing above the technical level of 6300.
