Volatility Marks Morning Trades

Tracking the negativity in Asia, the Indian markets started trades lower today. Volatility was seen in early trades ahead of inflation data scheduled to be announced later today. GSK Pharma registered its 52-week high in the morning trades.
Tracking the negativity in Asia, the Indian markets started trades lower today. Volatility was seen in early trades ahead of inflation data scheduled to be announced later today. Nifty is trading flat at 6173 and Sensex has moved up by a mere 20 points to trade at 20736.
The advance-decline ratio is on the positive side this morning. On the NSE, 1577 shares are trading in gains and 1557 shares are down.
Top Nifty Gainers: Infosys is the top gainer so far, up by 1.89%. Other gainers included IDFC, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and Sesa Sterlite.
Top Nifty Losers: Jindal Steel is trading lower by 2.73%, followed by BPCL, UltraTech Cement, Ambuja Cements and NMDC.
Among the sectoral indices, Capital Goods and IT are the top gainers this morning, up by 98 points each. Healthcare and Bankex have gained 92 points and 72 points respectively so far. Both Mid-Caps and Small-Caps are also trading up by 30 points.
The Asian markets are in negatives. Nikkei is down by 175 points and Hang Seng has lost 165 points. The KOSPI index is trading with a nominal positive bias.
Buzzer: GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals has jumped to trade 18.7% higher at Rs 2930. The stock has struck a record high of Rs 2952 so far in intraday trades, which is also its 52-week high. The company's parent firm GlaxoSmithKline Plc announced a voluntary open offer to increase its stake from 50.7% to upto 75% at a price of Rs 3100 per share.
Nifty Futures is trading in a small range around the 6190 level.
