Selling Pressure Continues

The headline indices remained weak in mid-session, with Nifty down by 32 points at 6189 and Sensex trading 107 points lower at 20781. Among the sectoral indices, Bankex, Auto and Consumer Durables have extended their losses.
After a gap-down opening today, the indices are trading on a weaker note. Bankex, Auto and Consumer Durables extended their losses in mid-session. Nifty is down by 32 points at 6189 and Sensex is trading 107 points lower at 20781. The indices have moved down in the range of 0.51%-0.52%.
The advance-decline ratio is on the negative side at this hour. On the NSE, 1601 shares are in the green and 1167 shares are in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: TCS is leading the gainers list, up by 2.6%. The other stocks trading higher include Infosys, Lupin, Hero MotoCorp and UltraTech Cement.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Tata Power has dipped by 5.04% so far, followed by M&M, Tata Motors, BPCL and BHEL.
Most of the sectoral indices are under selling pressure. Capital Goods and Auto are both down by 170 points. Metals and Oil & Gas have lost more than 100 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps are also trading nominally in negatives.
The Asian markets have remained in the red. Hang Seng is down by 522 points. Taiwan, KOSPI and Shanghai Composite are also trading in losses.
Buzzer: Tata Power has lost around 4.5% on the bourses and made an intraday low of Rs 81.60. The stock is trading below its major support level of Rs 85. If it closes below this level, it may drop to Rs 78-75 in the next 3-4 trading sessions.
Futures has held the 6200 level so far. The closing price will indicate the further moves of the index.
