The Indian markets witnessed selling pressure in the mid-session, but then the markets trimmed their losses at end of the trading session. Nifty closed the day down by 10 points at 6211, and Sensex ended at 20851 down by 37 points.

Nifty closed the day down by 10 points at 6211, and Sensex ended at 20851 down by 37 points.The advance-decline ratio on the NSE turns in positive. 1438 shares closed in green and 1344 shares were in red.
Top Nifty Gainers: Ranbaxy labs gained 3.4% in today’s trades, followed by Lupin, TCS, Infosys and Maruti Suzuki.
Top Nifty Losers: M&M closed the day lower by 3.8%. Among the other stocks that ended the day in red are Tata Power, BPCL, Tata Motors and BHEL.
Most of the sectoral indices saw some recovery from their respective support levels. IT index was the top gainer, up by 198 points. Followed by Mid-Cap and Small-Cap both were up by around 40 points in today’s trade. However Capital Goods and Auto indices closed down by 170 points and 140 points respectively. Metals and Oil & Gas indices also closed in the negative note.
Buzzer: Ranbaxy gained more than 3% on the bourses and closed above the technical level of Rs 475. If the stock remains above this level, it may touch the Rs 500 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future took support on the lower level which was at 6200. It’s close above 6250 is indicating some strength at this level for future trades.
