First Positive Close In 2014

The Indian markets end the day on a positive note today. The indices closed on a negative note for the last 5 consecutive sessions. But market managed holds its gain in today’s session. The Nifty closed the day up by 12 points at 6174 and Sensex up by 33 points to 20727.

The advance-decline ratio on the NSE also saw positive by day’s end. As 1685 shares closed in green and 1284 shares were in red.

Top Nifty Gainers: Coal India gained 4.8% in today’s trades, followed by Cipla, Cairn India, GAIL and Bank Of Baroda.

Top Nifty Losers: L&T closed the day lower by 2.07%. Among the other stocks in negatives were BPCL, Axis Bank, Sesa Sterlite and IDFC.

Among the sectoral indices, most of the sectors closed in green zone. Healthcare was the top gainer up by 104 points. Auto and Metal indices also surged by 85 points and 41 points respectively. Mid-Caps closed the day in green, up by 38 points and Small Caps ended 19 points higher. However Capital Goods and Consumer Durables closed in red zone down 133 points and 34 points respectively.

The Asian market closed on a positive note. Nikkei ended 307 points up and Hang Seng ended 283 points higher. Taiwan Weighted and Strait Times were also in positive.

Buzzer: Coal India gained more than 4.8% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 288. If the stock remains above this level, it may touch Rs 300 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future closed near the pivot level of 6200. If it’s open above this level may see more buying for further trade.
