Indices Dives At Closing Buzz

The markets closed the first day of the week on a negative note. Trading was flat through-out the day. Sectoral indices closed on a mix note, Bankex, IT and Metals were down by 50 points, whereas small caps and Mid-caps closed on a positive sentiment.

The Indian markets witnessed a flattish scenario till mid-session. However it witnessed a nosedive trade in closing buzz. Most of the banking sector stock closed to make new low on today’s session. As a result, the Nifty closed on negative note down by 9 points at 6053 and Sensex was 42 points lower at 20334.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was mixed as the day ended with 1638 shares in green and 1607 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: DLF gained 2.9% in today’s trade, followed by Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Maruti Suzuki and IDFC.

Top Nifty Losers: Bharti Airtel closed the day lower by 2.5%, followed by TCS, JP Associates, HUL and HDFC.

The sectoral indices closed on mixed note. Consumer Durables was the outperformer of the day up by 85 points. Capital Goods and Oil & Gas witnessed pull back of 56 points each, auto also up by 90 points. However Bankex, IT and Metals were down around 50 points each. Mid-Cap and Small-Cap closed on some positive note. 

On the Asian markets front, the Nikkei market closed in positive territory, up by 255 points. Hang Seng closed on negative note down by 57 points. Strait Times, Shanghai Composite and KOSPI closed on the positive side.  

Buzzer:  Sun Pharma gained more than 1.6% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 610. If the stock remains above this level, it may touch the Rs 625 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Futures witnessed a range bound trade of 6040, and 6020 will be the vital support for next trading session.
