Vote On Account Helps Market To Close On A Positive Note

After witnessing a volatile day the Indian markets closed on some nominal gains, which was an after effect of the Vote on Account presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram today. Nifty closed up by 24 points at 6073 and Sensex was up by 110 points at 20477. Bankex and Auto sector was the top performer of the day up by 140 and 90 points respectively.
The Indian markets witnessed a volatile trade in today’s session. However indices remained stable and managed to close on a nominal positive mood. Nifty closed positive, up by 24 points at 6073 and Sensex was 110 points higher by 20477.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was negative as the day ended with 1136 shares in green and 1285 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Tata power gained 4.8% in today’s trade, followed by M&M, Dr Reddy’s Lab, ICICI Bank and Hero Motocorp.
The sectoral indices closed on mixed note. Bankex and Auto were the out performer of the day up 140 points and 90 points respectively. Health Care also witnessed a pull up around 68 points each. Mid-Caps and Small Caps saw some mixed trade. However Metals, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables closed in the negative territory.
On the Asian markets front, the Nikkei market closed in positive territory, up by 80 points, Hang Seng closed on positive note up by 235 points. Strait Times, Shanghai Composite and KOSPI closed on the positive side as well.
Buzzer: ICICI Bank was up more than 2.09% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 1009. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 1025 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Futures took a major support on the lower side which is the technical level of 6000. Till its trading above this level, index may see further positive move.
