Markets End On A Month’s High, Auto And Capital Goods Shine

Gail was the top Nifty Gainer up by more than 3% on the bourses today, while NMDC lost 3.57%. Nifty closed up by 38 points at 6238 and Sensex surged up by 134 points to close at 20986. Auto and Capital Goods indices were the top performer of the day. Asian markets were upbeat and closed in the positive zone.
The Indian markets witnessed a steady and stable positive move on today’s expiry session. Auto, Capital Goods and Heath Care surged well. Nifty closed positively up by 38 points at 6238 and Sensex was 134 points higher by 20986.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE remained equal on both sides as the day ended with 1630 shares in green and 1645 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: GAIL gained 3.3% in today’s trade, followed by Dr Reddy’s Lab, M&M, ITC and BHEL.
Top Nifty Losers: NMDC closed the day lower by 3.57%, followed by Tata Steel, Sesa Sterlite, Tata Power and IndusInd Bank.
The sectoral indices closed on positive note. Auto and Capital Goods were the out performer of the day up 105 points and 95 points respectively. Health Care and FMCG also witnessed a pull up around 80 points each. Mid-Caps and Small Caps saw some positive trade. However Metals closed in the negative territory down by 156 points.
On the Asian markets front, the Nikkei market closed in negative territory, down by 80 points. However Hang Seng closed on positive note up by 120 points. Strait Times, Shanghai Composite and KOSPI closed on the positive side as well.
Buzzer: GAIL was up more than 3% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 365. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 380 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty futures took a major support on the lower side which is the technical level of 6200. Till its trading above this level, index may see further positive move.
