Markets To Trade Weak, Sensex Falls Over 100 Points

The Indian market opened on a negative note, with Bankex and Capital Goods stocks trading in losses in the morning session. Nifty is down by 35 points at 6459 level and the Sensex is down by 100 points to trade at 21671. The Indian rupee opened on a weaker note, lower by 26 paise at Rs 61.46 per dollar.

The Indian stock markets opened lower as the global cues look unsupportive. The Nifty is currently trading with a negative bias of 35 points at 6459 and Sensex is down 100 points at 21671. Both indices opened lower in the range of 0.53%-0.48%. The Indian rupee opened on a negative note, down by 26 paise at Rs 61.46 per dollar.

The advance-decline ratio is on the negative side in the morning session. On the NSE, 1470 shares are trading in gains and 1898 shares are down.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tata Power is the top gainer for today’s morning session, up by 1.50%, followed by GAIL, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Infosys and BPCL.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: IDFC is down by 2.84% as of now. HCL Tech, Axis Bank, DLF and Jaiprakash are also trading lower.

On sectoral front, 11 out of the 13 sectoral indices are trading in the red zone. Bankex was the highest loser, down by 174 points, followed by Capital Goods, down by 149 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps are both in red and trading down by 41 points and 27 points respectively. Among those in the green, the Healthcare indices and Auto were up by 23 points and 5 points respectively. 

The Asian shares are reflecting a negative sentiment. The Nikkei market is the top loser this morning, down by 467 points. Hang Seng has also dipped by 215 points. Taiwan Weighted and KOSPI are also down.

Buzzer: Gujarat Gas, stock opened at Rs 236.80 and jumped nearly 5% today to reach a high of Rs 246 on account of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) allowing Gujarat Gas Company (GGCL) to expand its city gas distribution (CGD) network in Bhavnagar district. 

The Nifty is trading at the 6480 level. 6450 will be a major support for further trading sessions.
