NTPC Subsidiary To Develop 250 MW Defence-Linked Solar Project With BESS In Uttar Pradesh

Indian equity benchmarks traded in positive territory on Wednesday, with the benchmark Nifty 50 index rising 87.25 points or 0.38 per cent to 23,329.35. Amid the positive market sentiment, NTPC Green Energy share price traded at Rs 100.50, up 0.09 per cent from the previous close, after the company announced a large-scale renewable energy project for defence establishments in Uttar Pradesh.

NTPC Green Energy 250 MW Solar Project Approved

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), will develop a 250 MW solar power project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on vacant defence land at Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh.

The project has been approved by Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and is being described as the first large-scale solar power project with integrated battery storage specifically designed to strengthen the energy security of defence establishments.

Power To Be Supplied To Defence Establishments

The electricity generated from the project will be supplied to various defence establishments across Uttar Pradesh.

The project combines utility-scale solar generation with integrated battery storage infrastructure, enabling improved reliability and a more stable power supply. The inclusion of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is expected to support round-the-clock energy availability and enhance renewable energy utilisation for strategic installations.

Project To Supply Renewable Power To Defence Establishments

The Sitapur project will be developed on vacant defence land, representing a coordinated approach between renewable energy infrastructure development and defence land utilisation.

According to the company, the project has been specifically structured to support defence energy requirements while combining large-scale solar generation with dedicated energy storage capabilities.

The development marks another step in the deployment of storage-backed renewable energy projects by NTPC Green Energy's renewable platform.

Strengthens Renewable Energy Portfolio

The project adds to NTPC Green Energy's growing renewable energy portfolio across solar, wind, hybrid systems, energy storage and green hydrogen.

The company disclosed the development under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
