BHEL Receives Limited Notice To Proceed

BHEL has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) valued at over Rs 90 crore, excluding GST, from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the 1x800 MW Durgapur Supercritical Thermal Power Station.

The LNTP enables BHEL to initiate advance engineering activities and place orders for critical long lead items required for the project's main plant package.

BHEL  Part Of 800 MW Supercritical Thermal Project

BHEL had earlier emerged as the successful bidder in an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process conducted by DVC for the Boiler, Turbine and Generator (BTG) package of the 800 MW supercritical thermal power unit.

The Durgapur project represents an additional 800 MW of thermal power generation capacity and forms part of ongoing investments in high-efficiency supercritical power infrastructure.

Scope Of Work Under LNTP

The scope of the LNTP includes advance engineering activities and procurement of essential long lead equipment required for execution of the main plant package.

The company stated that the LNTP is valid for a period of 10 months from the date of issuance. Following the completion of this period, the formal order for supply and execution of the complete BTG package is expected to be awarded to BHEL.

Strengthens Thermal Power Order Pipeline

The development adds to BHEL's order pipeline in the thermal power segment, particularly in the supercritical category where large-capacity units continue to be commissioned by central and state utilities.

The company has been securing orders across the power generation sector as utilities continue investments in thermal, renewable and grid infrastructure projects.

No Related Party Transaction

BHEL clarified that the order does not fall under related party transactions. While the contract originated through an international competitive bidding process, Damodar Valley Corporation is a domestic public sector undertaking.

Both BHEL and DVC operate under government ownership and play significant roles in India's power sector ecosystem.
