Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has won a transmission project with an estimated capital expenditure of approximately Rs 4,700 crore. The project is aimed at facilitating the evacuation of renewable energy generated in Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra while also supporting the growing pumped storage ecosystem across Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Project to Add 562 ckm and 9,000 MVA Capacity
The project will be housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle Satara Power Transmission Ltd. and is scheduled to be delivered within 36 months
Once completed, the project will add 562 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL's transmission portfolio. This will take the company's cumulative transmission network to 29,739 ckm, while its total transformation capacity will rise to 1,43,425 MVA.
The project includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.

Transmission Order Book Nears Rs 85,000 Crore
The latest project adds to AESL's growing transmission portfolio, with the company's transmission order book now standing at approximately Rs 85,000 crore.
The project is also aligned with the increasing requirement for transmission infrastructure as India expands its renewable energy and energy-storage capacity. AESL highlighted that transmission networks are critical for connecting renewable energy sources, including Solar, wind and pumped storage, with major industrial and urban load centres.

Mr. Kandarp Patel, CEO, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, said, “Pumped storage projects are emerging as a critical enabler of India's clean energy transition by providing the flexibility and reliability required to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the grid.”
He further stated that the Satara transmission project will create a transmission backbone supporting renewable energy evacuation and energy-storage deployment while strengthening power flows between Southern and Western India.
