Cyient DET revenue rises 8.1 per cent sequentially as order intake and margins strengthen
Cyient reported stronger Q2 FY27 execution in its DET business, with revenue, EBIT and cash conversion improving. Semiconductor and DLM businesses also built order visibility.
✨ Key Takeaways
Cyient’s Digital, Engineering and Technology business delivered a sharper second-quarter performance, reporting revenue of Rs 1,664 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up 8.1 per cent sequentially and 15.7 per cent year-on-year. Organic revenue growth was 2.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 9.3 per cent year-on-year, indicating that the improvement was not solely dependent on inorganic additions.
DET EBIT rose 16.8 per cent sequentially to Rs 237 crore, taking the EBIT margin to 14.2 per cent. Profit after Tax increased 8.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 153 crore. The segment generated free cash flow of Rs 214 crore, equivalent to 139 per cent of PAT, highlighting a strong conversion of earnings into cash.
The company, which announced the results on October 22, said Q2 order intake grew 20.8 per cent year-on-year. Technology order intake rose 39.7 per cent year-on-year, according to Chief Executive Officer Sukamal Banerjee, who said the quarter marked a point at which Cyient’s Intelligent Lifecycle Engineering strategy began to show in operating metrics.
Transportation and Mobility remained a key contributor, growing 4.5 per cent sequentially and 16.5 per cent year-on-year in constant currency terms. This was its sixth consecutive quarter of growth. The result is notable because DET had entered FY27 with uneven demand across its portfolios, including softer activity in strategic units such as energy. The latest quarter points to improving execution and better revenue conversion, although the durability of a broad-based recovery will remain important.
Cyient is also seeking to extend its engineering services proposition through software, data and AI capabilities. Management said the integration of TAO Digital adds platform software and data-engineering depth, supporting enterprise AI adoption among its existing customers. The company’s CYiNGINE platform is intended to deploy agentic AI in engineering workflows and link its use cases to customer operating metrics.
Outside DET, Cyient Semiconductors recorded 8 per cent sequential revenue growth, its sixth consecutive quarter of growth, and secured a turnkey programme along with a major engagement from a global semiconductor customer. Its AI data-centre power products are expected to begin contributing revenue from the next financial year. Management said the ASIC pipeline exceeds USD 100 million, though supply constraints may affect near-term margins and growth.
Cyient DLM also reported a record Order Book, with book-to-bill above 1.6 times. Revenue rose more than 26.5 per cent year-on-year and more than 30 per cent in the first half in rupee terms, led by Aerospace and industrial programmes. The Board declared an interim Dividend of Rs 12 per share.
DSIJ's Analysis
DET’s second-quarter performance is meaningful because it combines organic growth, margin expansion and strong cash conversion after a period when revenue conversion had been uneven. Revenue of Rs 1,664 crore represents nearly 29 per cent of DET’s FY2026 revenue of Rs 5,818.9 crore, although a single quarter should not be annualised. More importantly, the 14.2 per cent EBIT margin and 139 per cent free-cash-flow-to-PAT conversion suggest that operating discipline is improving alongside growth. Higher order intake and growth in Transportation and Mobility provide support for management’s lifecycle-engineering strategy, while TAO Digital adds data and platform capabilities that could deepen engagements over time.
The announcement is potentially supportive for investor perception because it offers evidence that DET’s order pipeline is beginning to translate into revenue and profitability. However, the earnings visibility is not yet complete. Semiconductor products are still in an investment phase, with revenue contribution from AI data-centre power products expected only from the next financial year, while management has flagged supply constraints. The decisive watchpoint remains whether DET can sustain organic growth across more verticals without sacrificing margins.
