In the mid-afternoon trade, the major equity benchmarks slipped from their day's high.
In the mid-afternoon trade, the major equity benchmarks slipped from their day's high. After reaching its day's high of 16,143.25 in the afternoon trade, Nifty fell below the 16,100 level. Real estate stock prices increased for the second day in a row. Due to today's NSE weekly index options expiry, trading was irregular.
The barometer index i.e. S&P BSE Sensex increased 429 points or 0.80 per cent to 54,180.12 at 3.21 pm. To reach 16,132.35 level, Nifty 50 index rose 142.55 points or 0.89 per cent. The domestic equity benchmarks underperformed the broader market. While S&P BSE Smallcap index surged 1.21 per cent, S&P BSE Midcap index climbed 1.30 per cent.
More buyers than sellers were witnessed today. Meanwhile, 2,232 shares have increased and 1,051 shares decreased on BSE. Besides, 147 shares were unchanged overall.
