Engineering Firm Wins Rs 763 Crore Smart Grid Contract in Tripura JV
Ircon International has secured a Rs 763.10 crore Smart Grid contract from Tripura State Electricity Corporation in a joint venture, with its share valued at about Rs 198.41 crore. The project will be executed over 24 months.
Ircon International Limited has secured a domestic works contract worth Rs 763.10 crore, including 18 per cent GST, from Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) for execution of the Agartala Smart Grid project under Package-A in the Agartala Municipality Area.
The contract has been awarded to Ircon in joint venture with M/s Badri Rai & Company (BRC), where BRC is the lead partner with a 74 per cent share and Ircon holds a 26 per cent stake. Of the total contract value of Rs 763,10,28,794, BRC’s share amounts to approximately Rs 564.70 crore, while Ircon’s portion stands at about Rs 198.41 crore.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, assembly, inspection and testing at the manufacturer’s works prior to dispatch, as well as packing, supply and delivery at site with transit insurance and storage. The project also covers erection, testing and commissioning of an underground power cable network for both high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) lines.
In addition, the contract provides for implementation of Smart Grid applications such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Management System (OMS), GIS mapping and integration, and an underground optical fibre cable (OFC) communication system. The scope further includes integration with third-party IT application software and hardware systems, including Billing, ERP and Customer Information Systems (CIS).
The project will also involve establishment of a Smart Grid Control Centre, both main and backup, with Distribution Network Automation (DNA). Facility management, along with operations and maintenance (O&M) of the system, forms part of the contract. The execution timeline for the project is 24 months.
Ircon clarified that neither the promoter nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding authority and that the contract does not qualify as a related party transaction.
