Gujarat-Based Cement Block Manufacturer Enters Construction Chemicals Segment; Commences Trial Production at Umargaon Facility

On Tuesday, Indian markets traded on a positive note, with the Nifty 50 rising 0.87 per cent to 24,576.60, up 211.75 points from the previous close of 24,364. Amid this, Bigbloc Construction's share price was trading at Rs 50.74, down 0.02 per cent from the previous close of Rs 50.75.

Bigbloc Construction Trial Production Commences at Umargaon Facility

Bigbloc Construction has announced the commencement of trial production at its construction chemicals plant located in Umargaon, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Bigbloc Building Elements Private Limited. This development marks the company’s entry into the construction chemicals segment within the broader building materials space.

The Umargaon facility will manufacture a range of products, including tile adhesives, wall putty, ready mix plaster, block joining mortar, and waterproofing products. The plant has been designed to cater to increasing regional demand and strengthen the company’s product portfolio.

Bigbloc Construction Expansion into the Construction Chemicals Segment

With this move, the company has diversified beyond its core AAC (Aerated Autoclaved Concrete) block business into a high-growth segment. Bigbloc Construction is among the largest AAC block manufacturers in India, with an installed capacity of 1.3 million cubic meters per annum across its facilities in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The entry into construction chemicals is aimed at creating synergies with its existing AAC business while expanding its presence in the building materials sector.

Commenting on the development, Mr Narayan Saboo, Chairman, Bigbloc Construction Limited, stated that the company’s foray into construction chemicals aligns with its long-term vision of becoming a comprehensive building materials solutions provider. He added that the commencement of trial production is expected to enhance product offerings and create operational synergies, while supporting growth through innovation and customer-focused solutions.

Bigbloc Construction Capacity Expansion and Strategic Development

The company has also acquired approximately 57,500 square meters of land in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to set up one of India’s largest greenfield AAC block manufacturing facilities. This expansion is part of its strategy to increase manufacturing capacity and strengthen its presence across key markets.

Bigbloc Construction is also among the few companies in the AAC industry to generate carbon credits, highlighting its focus on sustainable and efficient manufacturing practices.
