Pidilite Industries Share Price Rallies: Why Is the Stock Rising Today?

Pidilite delivered over 21 per cent sales growth in Q2 FY27, led by double-digit volumes across key businesses. Profit rose, though elevated material costs reduced operating margins.

✨ Key Takeaways

Pidilite Industries draws most of its standalone revenue from its Consumer and Bazaar business, which includes adhesives, sealants, Construction chemicals and art materials. Its latest quarterly performance shows that domestic demand and volume momentum remained resilient, even as higher raw-material costs limited the conversion of sales growth into operating profit.

For the quarter ended September 2026, consolidated net sales rose 21.1 per cent YoY to Rs 4,285 crore. Earnings before interest, Tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased a modest 3.1 per cent to Rs 878 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) rose 7.1 per cent to Rs 626 crore. EBITDA margin contracted to 20.5 per cent from 24.0 per cent a year earlier, reflecting the impact of material inflation.

On a standalone basis, net sales grew 21.7 per cent to Rs 3,982 crore, supported by underlying volume growth (UVG) of 10.7 per cent. Standalone PAT rose 10.4 per cent to Rs 647 crore. EBITDA was largely flat at Rs 811 crore, causing the operating margin to fall to 20.4 per cent from 24.7 per cent in the corresponding quarter last year.

The Consumer and Bazaar business recorded 20.7 per cent revenue growth to Rs 3,198 crore, with UVG of 11.1 per cent. However, earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margin declined to 26.3 per cent from 31.0 per cent. The Business to Business segment grew revenue by 21.8 per cent to Rs 820 crore and delivered UVG of 9.2 per cent, although its EBIT fell 3.4 per cent and margin narrowed to 14.1 per cent from 17.7 per cent.

For the first half of FY27, consolidated sales increased 21.2 per cent to Rs 8,826 crore and PAT grew 19.6 per cent to Rs 1,510 crore. Consolidated EBITDA margin for the six months stood at 23.5 per cent, down from 24.6 per cent in the previous year. Management said timely price increases and cost discipline helped absorb input-cost inflation, while it remains focused on investments in brands, innovation and distribution.

As of 12:15 pm on October 29, 2026, Pidilite shares were trading at Rs 1,412.30, up 1.46 per cent from the previous close. The stock was about 16.4 per cent below its 52-week high of Rs 1,690.00, while remaining above the 52-week low of Rs 1,272.50. Over one year, the shares had declined 7.29 per cent, compared with a 9.01 per cent fall in the BSE 500, indicating relative resilience despite the stock's negative absolute return.

What This Means for Investors

The quarter supports the view that Pidilite's domestic franchise retains healthy demand momentum. Double-digit volume growth in both Consumer and Bazaar and Business to Business is important because it shows that sales expansion was not driven only by pricing. Growth in construction chemicals, waterproofing and tile-adhesive categories can deepen the company’s presence beyond core adhesives, supported by brand investment and distribution reach.

The key qualification is margin durability. Consolidated sales grew more than 21 per cent in the quarter, but EBITDA increased only 3.1 per cent as material inflation weighed on profitability. Price actions and cost controls have cushioned the impact so far, but input costs linked to crude-related materials, freight and supply conditions remain material variables. At 52.82 times trailing earnings, the valuation leaves limited room for prolonged margin pressure, making the pace of margin recovery and sustained volume growth important over the second half of FY27.
