Bharat Forge Defence Arm Signs Strategic Partnership

Kalyani Strategic Systems (KSSL), the wholly owned defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with AM General, a leading U.S.-based military vehicle manufacturer, to jointly offer mounted artillery gun systems for global defence markets.

The agreement was signed on June 18, 2026, during the Eurosatory Defence Exposition in Paris, one of the world's largest defence and security exhibitions. The collaboration aims to provide modern armed forces with compact, lightweight, rugged and highly mobile next-generation artillery platforms capable of meeting evolving battlefield requirements.

Focus On Global Defence Opportunities

Under the partnership, both companies will pursue international defence opportunities and position the platform as a scalable and exportable 155mm artillery solution for allied nations seeking modern and mobile firepower capabilities.

As part of the collaboration, AM General has submitted a proposal to participate in the U.S. Army's Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) Program. The proposal includes the development and delivery of a 155mm artillery solution based on KSSL's proven Mounted Artillery Gun (MArG) platform, with delivery planned in 2027 if selected by the U.S. Government.

Advanced MArG Artillery Platform

The MArG platform integrates a purpose-built powerpack and suspension system designed to enhance mobility while maintaining a lighter overall vehicle weight.

The system features a 52-calibre 155mm cannon integrated with KSSL's patented Soft Recoil Technology (SRT) recoil mitigation system, automated load-assist capabilities and an advanced all-weather fire control suite capable of both direct and indirect fire operations.

According to the company, the artillery system can fire standard high-explosive projectiles to a range exceeding 40 kilometres and can carry more than 20 projectiles and propellant charges onboard.

The patented Soft Recoil Technology absorbs significantly greater recoil forces than conventional artillery systems, enabling lighter vehicle platforms, reduced system stress and improved operational efficiency throughout the equipment lifecycle.
