JSW Energy Halol Wind Blade Facility Commissioned
JSW Energy informed the stock exchanges that it has successfully commissioned its wind blade manufacturing plant at Halol, Gujarat, marking a significant step towards vertically integrating its wind energy value chain and strengthening supply chain capabilities.
The facility has an annual production capacity of up to 450 wind blades, equivalent to 600 MW of wind power projects. The plant will manufacture 82-metre wind blades designed for 4 MW Wind Turbine Generators.
The company also stated that another wind blade manufacturing facility at Chitradurga, Karnataka, is in advanced stages of commissioning.
Supports Renewable Energy Expansion
JSW Energy currently operates 3.9 GW of installed wind energy capacity. In addition, the company has 6.5 GW of locked-in hybrid capacity, where wind forms a key component, and 2.4 GW of locked-in standalone wind projects.
The company said the new manufacturing capability will help de-risk its supply chain, support domestic content requirements and improve project economics by reducing Logistics and other input costs associated with wind energy projects.
The facility is also expected to reduce exposure to fluctuations in wind blade input costs while supporting future renewable energy expansion plans.
Management Commentary
Commenting on the development, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, said the commissioning of the Halol plant represents a key milestone in the company's efforts to build a resilient and self-reliant renewable energy platform.
He added that bringing critical manufacturing capabilities in-house strengthens supply chain security while enhancing the cost competitiveness and returns of the company's wind energy portfolio.
JSW Energy Capacity Pipeline
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising 13.7 GW operational capacity, 13.8 GW under Construction and an additional pipeline of 4.6 GW. The company also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, including pumped hydro and battery energy storage systems.
The company aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030.
