Jyoti Global Plast Ltd has officially entered the Defence sector with the launch of AeroDrop, a military-grade tactical UAV designed for high-risk environments. This launch marks a significant pivot for the company, moving beyond its established industrial and civilian roots into the specialised field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). By introducing a platform purpose-built for defence and security forces, the company aims to address the modern battlefield's increasing Reliance on unmanned technology to enhance operational reach while minimising personnel exposure.
The AeroDrop platform is engineered specifically for the precision deployment of tactical payloads, supporting a maximum take-off weight of 25 kg. With a payload capacity of up to 7 kg and an automatic release mechanism, the drone can carry between five and seven mission-specific payloads with high accuracy. This capability allows defence units to execute strike coordination and tactical reconnaissance in complex theatres where conventional access is often restricted by geography or enemy presence.
Designed for multi-terrain survivability, AeroDrop is capable of operating in extreme conditions ranging from high-altitude regions to dense jungles. To counter modern electronic warfare, the UAV offers an optional optical fiber-based communication system that provides high resistance to jamming and signal interference. Furthermore, the platform supports 24/7 mission readiness through integrated thermal imaging and daylight cameras, ensuring effectiveness during both day and night combat operations.
A hallmark of the AeroDrop program is its commitment to self-reliance, with approximately 75% of the platform developed indigenously. Key components, including the flight controller, GNSS, and ground control station, are produced in-house, aligning with national initiatives for domestic defence manufacturing. This launch consolidates Jyoti Global Plast’s growing UAV portfolio—which includes surveillance, industrial, and agricultural drones—positioning the firm as a versatile provider of mission-ready platforms for evolving security requirements.
Commenting on the launch, Hiren Shah, Managing Director, Jyoti Global Plast, said: “AeroDrop has been developed with a defence-first approach, focusing on precision, reliability, and survivability in demanding operational environments. Our objective has been to deliver a mission-ready platform that defence forces can deploy with confidence in contested and high-risk scenarios.”
