Download Service BrochureThe transaction was worth about Rs 2,468 crore, with the shares changing hands at around Rs 688 apiece. This is important because Lenskart has already seen a series of large secondary-market transactions in recent weeks. The latest deal has therefore added another layer to the stock’s recent trading activity, particularly after strong gains since its listing.
On September 18, reports said Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust was likely to sell up to 3 crore Lenskart shares at a floor price of Rs 682.45 per share. At that price, the proposed transaction was estimated at around Rs 2,047.40 crore, representing about 1.7 per cent of Lenskart’s equity. The floor price was around 3.42 per cent below the stock’s closing price of Rs 706.60 on Friday.
The actual transaction reported on Monday was larger. Around 3.6 crore shares, equivalent to about 2.07 per cent of the company’s equity, changed hands at Rs 688 per share, taking the reported transaction value to around Rs 2,468 crore. The buyers and sellers had not been officially identified in the initial exchange-market reports.
So, while Platinum Jasmine was widely reported as the likely seller ahead of the transaction, it would be premature to describe it as the confirmed seller of the entire Monday block deal without an official confirmation. As of June 30, 2026, Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust held 16,98,15,438 shares, representing a 9.77 per cent stake in Lenskart.
Why Is The Stock Falling After The Deal?
The immediate reaction is fairly straightforward. A large block of shares changing hands at a price below the previous market price can put pressure on the stock, particularly when the transaction involves an existing large shareholder.
In this case, the reported floor price of Rs 682.45 was below Friday’s close of Rs 706.60. The actual reported block transaction at Rs 688 was also below that previous closing level. The stock had closed Friday at Rs 706.60 after gaining 3.94 per cent during the session. It had also touched Rs 725 on the BSE during Friday’s trading. That makes Monday’s move easier to understand in the context of the sharp run-up just before the block transaction.
A Series Of Large Deals In Just A Few Weeks
The latest transaction is not an isolated event. Lenskart saw another sizeable block deal on August 28, when around 2.95 crore shares changed hands for about Rs 1,857 crore at Rs 630 per share. Reports at the time identified Alpha Wave Ventures as a likely seller, although the parties were not immediately confirmed when the transaction took place.
Just a few days earlier, on August 24, SoftBank affiliate SVF II Lightbulb (Cayman) sold a 2.58 per cent stake in Lenskart through block deals. The transaction was worth about Rs 2,888 crore, with shares changing hands at Rs 641.75 apiece.
Taken together, these three large transactions represent more than Rs 7,200 crore of reported block-deal activity in Lenskart shares since August.
