This initiative follows their 2025 agreement to manufacture the multi-mission aircraft locally, specifically targeting the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program.
Embraer and the Mahindra Group have expanded their strategic partnership by announcing plans to establish a comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hub in India for the C-390 Millennium. This initiative follows their 2025 agreement to manufacture the multi-mission aircraft locally, specifically targeting the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program. By offering a full spectrum of services—including heavy maintenance, structural inspections, and avionics support—the collaboration aims to ensure high operational readiness while aligning with the 'Make in India' mission.
Beyond domestic requirements, the proposal envisions India as a potential regional sustainment hub for the growing global fleet of C-390 operators, which now includes nations such as Brazil, South Korea, and several NATO members. The C-390 is distinguished by its 26-ton payload capacity and a mission completion rate exceeding 99 per cent, making it a versatile asset for everything from aerial refuelling to humanitarian aid. This move builds on Embraer’s established footprint in India, where its platforms already support critical Defence roles, including the IAF’s ‘Netra’ AEW&C and government VIP transport.
