What Triggered FSSAI’s Action?
According to the regulator, it examined Nestle India’s infant nutrition products along with promotional material available on e-commerce platforms.

The action covers NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and Lactogen Pro 1. FSSAI flagged certain claims associated with these products, including references related to “5 HMOs” and “Whey Protein”. The regulator stated that these claims did not comply with applicable infant food regulations.

Separately, a sample of a follow-up formula manufactured by Nestle India was found to be below the prescribed biotin requirement during laboratory testing. The sample was subsequently sent for re-analysis, where the referral laboratory also found it non-conforming with the specified biotin standards.

Regulatory Action Brings Infant Nutrition Business Into Focus

The company has a strong presence across multiple consumer segments, including milk products, nutrition, prepared foods, beverages and chocolates. The latest regulatory action does not indicate a product recall or commercial impact at this stage.

Nestle India shares declined after the announcement, reflecting investor concerns around regulatory scrutiny and potential reputational impact. The stock fell around 2 per cent during the session, however, the stock recovered close to the end of the trading session to close at Rs 1,364,90 (-0.42 per cent).
