BHEL Bags Rs 21,000 Crore Thermal Power Project

According to the company's exchange filing, BHEL received a Notification of Award (NOA) on June 4, 2026, for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) package of the 3x800 MW Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The order has been awarded by Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL), a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL), through an international competitive bidding process.

Scope Of The Project

The contract covers the complete EPC package, including design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the project.

The power project comprises three supercritical thermal units of 800 MW each, taking the total installed capacity under Stage-II to 2,400 MW. As per the contract terms, BHEL is required to complete the facilities within 70 months from the date of the Notification of Award.

BHEL Order Inflow Strengthens Execution Pipeline

The latest order represents one of the company's significant project wins in the thermal power segment and is expected to strengthen its order inflow for FY27.

The project further reinforces BHEL's position in India's thermal power sector, where the company continues to secure large-scale EPC contracts for power generation infrastructure.

BHEL continues to maintain a strong project pipeline backed by a robust order book. Following multiple order wins across power and industrial segments, the company's overall order book has reached approximately Rs 2.40 lakh crore, providing strong revenue visibility over the coming years.

The addition of the Meja Stage-II project further enhances BHEL's execution portfolio and strengthens its presence in large-scale supercritical thermal power projects.
