The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty-50 indices are trading in the red on Tuesday with the Sensex down 0.26 per cent at 80,158 and the Nifty-50 up 0.18 per cent at 24,580. About 2,531 shares have advanced, 1,614 shares have declined and 140 shares were unchanged on the BSE. The BSE Sensex Index made a new 52-week high of 85,978.25 on September 27, 2024 and the NSE Nifty-50 Index made a new 52-week high of 26,277.35 on September 27, 2024.
The broader markets were in the green territory, with the BSE Mid-Cap Index up 0.27 per cent and the BSE Small-Cap Index up 0.64 per cent. The top mid-cap gainers were MRF Ltd, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, NMDC Ltd and Torrent Power Ltd. In contrast, the top small-cap gainers were One Mobikwik Systems Ltd, Vimta Labs Ltd, Jai Corp Ltd and Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.
On the sectoral front, the indices were traded mixed with the BSE Utilities Index and BSE Power Index being the Top Gainers while the BSE Telecommunication Index and BSE Bankex Index were the Top Losers.
As of September 02, 2025, the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies was approximately Rs 445 lakh crore or USD 5.11 trillion. On the same day, 124 stocks hit a 52-week high while 64 stocks touched a 52-week low.
