At 1 pm on Thursday, the core equity indices i.e., Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading on the lower side, owing to the continued war that is raging between Russia and Ukraine, as investors are hoping for peace talks to happen soon. Also, crude oil prices are up by 3 per cent today, dragging the global market all the more.

The Sensex was at 57,378.88 down by 485.05 points or 0.84 per cent, while Nifty was at 17,154.35  dow by 132.70 points or 0.7 per cent from the last trading session.       

      

On the BSE, 1,607 shares have advanced, 1,800 shares declined, whereas 138  shares are unchanged.      

       

The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 pack are Coal India, Hindalco Industries, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, and Tata Steel. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are SBI Life Insurance Company, SBI, Britannia Industries, Tata Consumer Products, and Eicher Motors. 

      

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 27,324.02, up by 1.35 per cent. The top five gainers are Kamdhenu, Dodla Dairy, Valiant Organics, Jubilant Pharmova, and Wockhardt. Each of these stocks gained more than 15 per cent. Similarly, the top five stocks pulling the index down include Future Retail, Future Lifestyle Fashions, Cigniti Technologies, Ramkrishna Forgings, and Max Ventures and Industries. 

 

On the sectoral front, BSE Utilities, BSE Capital Goods, BSE Power, BSE Finance, were down by more than 1%, whereas BSE Metal was up by more than 2 per cent.
