Indian stock markets snapped their five-day losing streak on Monday after US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, stated that the United States and India will engage in trade talks as soon as Tuesday. The statement revived market sentiment instantly, triggering a sharp Intraday recovery across benchmark indices.

By the closing bell, the BSE Sensex had surged nearly 1,100 points from its day’s low to settle at 83,878, ending higher by 302 points or 0.36 per cent. On the NSE, the Nifty50 rebounded strongly from a low of 25,473.40 to hit an intraday high of 25,813.15 before ending the session at 25,790, up 107 points or 0.42 per cent.

Despite the bounce in headline indices, broader market action remained weak. The Nifty Mid-Cap index slipped 0.05 per cent, while the Nifty Small-Cap index declined 0.52 per cent, reflecting persistent selling pressure in mid- and Small-Cap counters.

Sectorally, the Nifty Realty index was the worst performer, falling 1.2 per cent. This was followed by the Nifty Pharma index down 0.41 per cent, the Nifty Auto index lower by 0.26 per cent, and the Nifty IT index down 0.1 per cent each.
