In its October 30, 2026 results update, ICICI Securities maintained its ADD recommendation on Asian Paints and retained its DCF-based target price of Rs 2,600, implying a target P/E of 40 times FY28E.
The broker remains positive on resilient decorative-paint demand, management's maintained FY27 EBITDA-margin guidance, strong industrial-coatings growth, potential structural savings from backward integration and the prospect of festive and wedding-led demand in Q3FY27.
| Metric | Consolidated YoY growth | Standalone YoY growth |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 16.9% | 14.9% |
| EBITDA | 3.6% | 6.0% |
| Adjusted PAT / PAT | 7.7% | 14.7% |
Asian Paints reported Q2FY27 consolidated revenue, EBITDA and adjusted PAT growth of 16.9 per cent, 3.6 per cent and 7.7 per cent YoY, respectively. India decorative volume grew 6.4 per cent YoY, extending growth momentum for a fourth consecutive quarter despite Diwali shifting to November from October in the prior year.
However, steep input-cost inflation reduced consolidated gross margin by 347 basis points YoY to 39.7 per cent and EBITDA margin by 201 basis points YoY. The report does not state whether the quarterly results beat or missed ICICI Securities estimates.
India decorative revenue rose 14.5 per cent YoY, aided by pricing action. Rural markets continued to outperform urban demand, while B2B demand remained strong in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. Industrial coatings recorded 31.8 per cent value growth and emerged as an important growth driver. New products launched over the last three years contributed 18 per cent of revenue.
In home decor, Kitchen, Bath, White Teak and Weatherseal revenue changed by 13.0 per cent, 18.5 per cent, negative 11.8 per cent and negative 1.8 per cent YoY, respectively.
International revenue grew 29.5 per cent YoY, led by Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South Pacific, but international PBT fell 31 per cent because of weak pricing power. PPGAP and APPPG revenue rose 33.7 per cent and 28.0 per cent, respectively, although PBT margins contracted by 309 and 425 basis points because pricing was delayed.
Management expects 8-9 per cent volume growth in Q3FY27, supported by festive and wedding demand, though rural demand remains monitorable. Asian Paints has implemented about 12 per cent of domestic decorative price increases since Q4FY26 and announced a further 3.5 per cent increase effective November 2026.
Management expects price increases in international and PPGAP/APPPG businesses in coming quarters. It expects FY27 gross margin of 41-43 per cent and has reiterated FY27 EBITDA-margin guidance of 18-20 per cent.
Management noted that the titanium dioxide anti-dumping duty effective October 2026 could add 2-3 per cent to costs. It is evaluating alternative grades and formulations. The company is prioritising calibrated price increases, sourcing efficiencies and cost optimisation because aggressive pass-through could lead to downtrading or deferred paint purchases.
The Phase 1 Dahej VAM-VAE project was commissioned in September 2026 and adds 1,50,000 MT of annual VAE capacity. Phase 2, comprising 1,00,000 MT VAM capacity, remains under development.
Management expects the integrated facility to improve supply security, lower external sourcing dependence, enable differentiated formulations through GenNext Green Technology and deliver 300-500 basis points of margin benefit as utilisation ramps up and the full project becomes operational.
ICICI Securities forecasts Asian Paints revenue and PAT CAGRs of 15.5 per cent and 17.8 per cent over FY26-FY28E.
| Estimate change | FY27E | FY28E |
