Sensex Holds 22600, Healthcare Up by 1.5%

A day of profit booking amid weak Asian cues brought the Indian markets on a stagnant mode today and indices closed on the negative side. Cipla was the top performer of the day, up by more than 3%. The 50 share Nifty index closed the day lower by 21 points at 6761 and the Sensex was down by 56 points at 22631 levels.
The Indian markets witnessed negative move in today’s trading session. However indices were held around there crucial supports levels. On the sectoral front, Health Care, Mid-Caps and Small Caps were providing good support to the indices. Alternatively Capital Goods and Auto were seen in the selling pressure. The Nifty remained on lower side by 21 points at 6761 and Sensex was 56 points lower at 22631.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the same on the both sides as the day ended with 1719 shares in green and 1720 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Cipla gained 3.21% in today’s trade, followed by Sun Pharma, Wipro, Kotak Mahindra and Dr Reddy’s Labs.
Top Nifty Losers: Ambuja Cement closed the day lower by 4.28%, followed by Asian Paints, BHEL, GAIL and HCL Tech.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Capital Goods and Auto witnessed nosedive move by 127 points and 132 points respectively. Metals and Oil & Gas indices also witnessed downward moves of more than 50 points. However Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended the day on a nominal positive note. Healthcare was the outperformer of the day up by 175 points.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. Hang Seng closed down by 91 points, whereas the Nikkei Index closed down by 141 points. Shanghai Composite and Kospi also closed in the negative territory. However Taiwan Index closed on some positive note up by 35 points.
Buzzer: BHEL was down by more than 2.5% on the bourses today and closed below the technical level of Rs 190. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 175/160 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty future closed near the crucial support level which is at 6800. This will serve as a major support level of tomorrow’s trading session.
