Nifty crosses 7700 mark, markets in 'Holi' mood

Indian markets witnessed a massive rally on Monday, with bankex, capital goods and auto sectors leading the day. All the sectorial indices closed in a positive note. The Nifty ended higher by 99 points at 7704 and Sensex was up by 332 points at 25285. Both the indices ended higher by around 1.3 percent.

The market breadth remained positive till closing hour, with 1470 advances and 1190 declines on the NSE.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Ambuja Cement was the top gainer for today’s session, closing higher by 4.3%. Among the other gainers were HUL, Ultra Tech, Bosch and ACC.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Asian Paints ended lower by 1.9% today, followed by Lupin, BHEL, Hero Motocorp, and GAIL.
As many as 13 out of 13 sectors ended in green sentiment. Bankex gained a total of 303 points for the day, capital goods was up by 250 points, Auto and consumer durables were 200 points higher and healthcare moved 172 points up. Mid-Caps and small-caps also saw positive trades, both higher by 140 points in the closing session.
In Asia, the Shanghai Composite was the top gainer and saw an appreciation of 64 points and Hang Seng ended higher by 12 points. KOSPI and Taiwan Weighted closed on mixed note. While the Nikkei market closed for today’s session.
Buzzers: Ambuja Cements: The scrip rose by 4.4% and closed above the technical level of Rs 230. If it holds these gains, it may reach a level of upto Rs 250 in the next few trading sessions.
Nifty Futures saw a handsome up-move and closed above 7700, indicating more strength ahead.
