The tussle continues between Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited and Airtel even as the fight extends to other operators as well for R JIO.
In its latest media statement R JIO has again urged its consumers to use Jio to Jio network and emphasised the benefits of switching to the Jio network at the earliest in order to experience flawless services.
R JIO claims that there are over two crore call failures every day between the two networks; and there are no call failures within the Jio network.
Earlier RJIL welcomed the decision of Bharti Airtel Limited of providing more points of interconnection (“POI”) to it, as was communicated in the bilateral discussions between the two companies. RJIL claims that the quantum of POIs proposed to be released by Airtel is substantially less than the requirement estimated based on transparent workings shared with Airtel. Based on the current traffic flow between the two networks, the proposed augmentation by Airtel would still only suffice for less than one-fourth of the required interconnection capacity, according to RJIL.
Investors are keenly watching the development in the telecom industry even as the telecom operators struggle to grow profitably.
Airtel is trading at Rs 323 per share trading flat to negative – down by 0.22 per cent on Monday, September 19. RIL is trading at Rs 1084 per share, up by Rs 8.40 or 0.78 per cent.
