Markets consolidate ahead of Union Budget

Indian markets opened on a cautious note on Monday. The markets are likely to consolidate till the presentation of the Union Budget 2017.
Indian markets opened on a cautious note on Monday. The markets are likely to consolidate till the presentation of the Union Budget 2017. BSE Sensex and Nifty indices declined 0.12 per cent and 0.1 per cent, respectively. At the closing bell, the Nifty declined 8 points to close at 8632 and the BSE Sensex decreased 32 points and closed at 27849. On the NSE, 18 shares closed in the green, while 33 shares ended the day in the red.
All sectoral indices closed in the red, except Capital Goods and Healthcare. Auto index reduced 194 points. Bankex declined 171 points. However, Healthcare rose 24 points. Mid-cap increased 36 points while Small-cap decreased 42 points.
Most of the Asian markets remained closed on Monday on account of Lunar holidays. Shanghai, Hang Seng, KOSPI and Taiwan’s TAIEX remained closed on Monday due to Lunar holiday. Nikkei dropped 0.51 per cent.
European markets were also trading in the negative territory.
Derivative Analysis
Nifty future closed on a weak note at 8658. Going ahead, 8703/8604 will be the immediate support levels.
