HRD Ministry ranks top 100 universities: IISc Bangalore is the topper

The HRD Ministry has ranked the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) the best educational institute in India. On Monday, the HRD Minister, Prakash Javdekar released the list.

Overall Rankings
1. IISc, Bangalore
2. IIT Madras
3. IIT Bombay
4. IIT Karagpur
5. IIT Delhi
Inspite of rising political controversies Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, stands at the sixth spot.
Best Colleges
1. Miranda House, Delhi
2. Loyola College, Chennai
3. Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi
Best Universities
1. IISc, Bangalore
2. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi
3. Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi
Best In Management studies
1. IIM Ahmedabad
2. IIM Bangalore
3. IIM Calcutta
In the overall ranking category seven IITs made it to the list of Top Ten.
Delhi’s St Stephen’s College,Delhi School of Economics, Hindu College, Hansraj College and Ramjas College, among others, did not apply to be part of the annual ranking scheme.
Under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which was launched last year, the institutions were ranked on the basis of 20 parametres.
The eligibility criteria taken into consideration for ranking the institutions, were inclusive of teaching/learning resources, graduation outcomes (employability), research, outreach/ social and gender inclusivity and general perception.
