Australia dissolves visa programme used by Indians

To solve the unemployment problem in the country, the Australian government in a bold move abolished a visa programme used by more than 95,000 foreign workers including Indian employees.

Western market is plagued by xenophobia and things are worsening with passing time, believe experts. Australia government inducted new laws in line of the Trump led US government to arrest the constant inflow of foreign workers. In a bid to tackle the threats of unemployment the Australian government bulldozed visa program used by more than 90,000 foreign workers.

To reign the unemployment issues in the country, the Australian government has also taken the stance of ‘Australian first’ in regard to feed the market demand with local resources. 457 visas will no longer help the foreign workers to bag jobs in Australian market, said a report.

Australia’s government could not control and minimise the problem of unemployment in the country for first four months in 2017. Australia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was steady at 5.9% in March of 2017, the same as the previous month and in line with market expectations.

The majority of 457 visa holders are from India followed by UK and China. Australia’s Prime Minister, Malcom Turnbull ordered that the entry to foreign workers is strictly for critical jobs only.

The move by the Australian government comes amidst the Donald Trump administration’s ongoing Visa policy issues and his ‘Buy American and Hire American’ stance.

Will the move by Australia and USA inspire the other nations to do the same? This is the big question mark in front of Indian employees who work for other countries. If the Indians who lost their job in other countries come back to India then will it form imbalance in the country? Will India’s employment status get adversely impacted? These questions are raised in the minds of Indians after Australia’s move.
