Minister of IT says Rs 1,500 crore transacted on BHIM app

"The BHIM app has been downloaded by 2 crore people and there has been close to 50 lakh transactions only on the BHIM app worth Rs 1,500 crore," the minister said.
Minister of Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday said that, the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app, intended to facilitate e-payments directly through banks and as part of the 2016 banknote demonetisation and drive towards cashless transactions, has logged 2 crore downloads and close to Rs 1,500 crore worth of transactions have taken place through it.
Prasad also informed that more than 2 crore people have been trained by common service centres on digital payments.
"The BHIM app has been downloaded by 2 crore people and there has been close to 50 lakh transactions only on the BHIM app worth Rs 1,500 crore," the minister said.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 20, 2016, BHIM is a mobile app developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
