Markets Close On A Flat Note, DLF Shines

The Indian markets saw some action in the last hour of trade and went on to make hit a new high, but it was just a relief rally after a big fall that we saw yesterday. At the end of the day, Nifty spared all gains made in the post-noon deal and ended flat at 5849, while Sensex closed down at 19,311. Both the indices ended down in the range of 0.04% to 0.07%.

At the end of the day, Nifty spared all gains made in the post noon deal and ended flat at 5849, down by 2 points, while Sensex closed down by 13 points at 19,311. Both the indices ended down in the range of 0.04% to 0.07%.
The advance-decline ratio closed flat at the end of the day. On the NSE, 708 shares ended in red and 707 shares ended in green.
Top 5 NSE Gainers: Bharti Airtel ended as the top gainer on NSE, up by 4.54%, followed by DLF, Wipro, Power Grid Corporation and Sun Pharma.
Top 5 NSE Losers: Hindustan Unilever ended as the top loser on NSE, down by 2.74%, followed by Coal India, Jaiprakash Associates, Maruti Suzuki India and HDFC.
Most of sectors ended in red. Oil & Gas, IT, Healthcare and Teck ended in green. Metal, Auto, Consumer Durables, and FMCG witnessed heavy sell-off in today’s trade. Healthcare and Realty saw some profit booking and ended in red.
The European markets inched up. CAC 40 is trading higher by 1.07%, FTSE 100 is trading higher by 0.61% and DAX is trading higher by 0.42%.
The Asian markets ended mixed. Nikkie 225 closed higher by 0.67%, followed by Straits Times and KOSPI. Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite closed down in the range of 0.51%-0.55%.
Buzzers: Jet Airways closed in red for the second straight day. The stock fell down by more than 5% on continued concerns about whether the carrier will clinch a stake sale to Abu Dhabi based carrier Ethihad Airways.
The stocks of DLF touched a fresh 52-week high in today’s trade. It closed at 281, up by 3.1%. The shares of the country’s largest real estate company have appreciated since the management has announced to reduce its debt by half to Rs 11,000-12,000 crore in the next 2-3 years.
Nifty traded in a narrow range today, but managed to hold on to the levels of 5820.
