Nifty Crosses 5400, Oil & Gas Index Surges By 2.5%

The Indian markets were in the bull’s grip in August expiry session today. Indices continued to witness up move and all the sectoral indices closed in the green zone. The Nifty surge to closed 124 points higher at 5409 and Sensex was ended at 18401 up by 404 points.

The Nifty surge to closed 124 points higher at 5409 and Sensex was ended at 18401 up by 404 points. Both the indices closed on positive note, up more than 2% each.
The advance-decline ratio was on the positive side in the closing session. On the NSE, 1767 shares closed in green, while 1572 shares ended the day in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Sesa Goa closed the day as the top gainer on NSE, up by 13.7%. It is followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, Lupin and Hindalco which were the others that closed the day on a positive note.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: PNB was the top loser, down by 2.5%, followed by Coal India, UltraTech Cements, SBI and DLF.
All of the sectors saw good amount of buying in the closing session. Oil & Gas index was the top gainer for the day, which closed higher by 225 points. It is followed by the Auto and Metal indices were up by 209 points and 184 points respectively. Also the Bankex, Capital Goods, FMCG and Healthcare witnessed jump of more than 140 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended on positive note up by 76 points and 35 points respectively.
On the Asian front, Hang Seng ended the day with a gain of 180 points. Followed by the Nikkei which was closed 121 points higher. The Taiwan and KOSPI too ended on a positive note.
Buzzers: Hindalco witnessed heavy volatile trade and it recovered from the lower level of around Rs 90. In today’s session the scrip broke its major hurdle of Rs 105. Going ahead if stock sustain above this level we may see the stock reaching Rs 112 in future sessions.
As per our expectation Nifty Future closed above the 5400 level, which is also positive indicator for tomorrow’s opening trades.
