765-kV Grid Contract Marks Ultra Mega Win in Inter-Regional Expansion

Bajel Projects Limited has won an Ultra Mega engineering, procurement and Construction contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for a 765 kV transmission-line project under the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme-Part A. PGCIL awarded the domestic contract on behalf of its special-purpose vehicle, WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited.

The order covers Transmission Line Package TL05, which is being implemented through the tariff-based competitive bidding route. Bajel Projects said the package involves transmission works intended to support the inter-regional network expansion between the Western and Eastern regions.

The project scope includes bypassing the Raigarh (Tamnar)-Dharamjaygarh (Sec-B) 765 kV double-circuit line and the Raigarh (Kotra)-Raigarh (Tamnar) 765 kV double-circuit line at the Raigarh (Tamnar) substation. These works will form the Raigarh (Kotra)-Dharamjaygarh (Sec-B) 765 kV double-circuit line.

The contract also includes looping-in and looping-out works for the Dharamjaygarh (Sec-B)-Jharsuguda (Sec-A) 765 kV double-circuit line at the Raigarh (Kotra)-II substation. In addition, the scope covers the Raigarh (Tamnar)-Raigarh (Kotra)-II substation 765 kV double-circuit line.

Bajel Projects classified the contract as an Ultra Mega Order under its internal order classification policy. The category includes orders valued at Rs 400 crore and above, inclusive of Goods and Services Tax. The company did not disclose the specific value of the contract in the information provided.

The transmission-line works are scheduled for completion within 33 months from the issuance of the Notification of Award. PGCIL awarded the contract in the ordinary course of business, according to Bajel Projects.

Bajel Projects said none of its promoters, promoter group or group companies has an interest in the entity awarding the order. It also said the transaction does not fall within the purview of a related-party transaction.
