BMW Ventures Wins Rs 72.94 Crore Tata Projects Steel Supply Orders for Adani Power Project
BMW Ventures has secured Rs 72.94 crore of TMT steel supply orders from Tata Projects for the 3 x 800 MW USCTPP-Adani Project, with execution required within eight weeks.
✨ Key Takeaways
BMW Ventures Limited has secured purchase orders worth Rs 72,93,60,950, inclusive of all Taxes, from Tata Projects Limited for supplying FE-550D grade TMT steel for the 3 x 800 MW USCTPP-Adani Project.
The orders, awarded by domestic engineering and Construction company Tata Projects, are to be executed within eight weeks from the purchase order date. BMW Ventures said the arrangement requires 100 per cent advance payment along with GST, a condition that could limit collection risk for the steel distributor compared with its usual dealer-led business model.
At Rs 72.94 crore, the order value is equivalent to about 12 per cent of BMW Ventures' net sales of Rs 608.90 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2026. It represents about 3.2 per cent of its FY26 net sales of Rs 2,278.24 crore, based on a calculation using the company’s reported financials.
The contract is aligned with BMW Ventures' core steel-distribution operations. The Patna-headquartered company distributes TMT bars and other steel products through a network across Bihar, while also operating businesses in fabrication, PVC pipes, tractor spares and construction-equipment rental. Steel and allied products remain its principal revenue contributor.
The latest order also comes as the company seeks to build volumes in long steel products and raise the contribution from more value-added infrastructure-linked activities. In its June-quarter presentation, BMW Ventures reported 41 per cent year-on-year growth in long-product distribution value to Rs 466.10 crore. TMT bars form a key part of this category.
BMW Ventures' net sales rose 25.65 per cent year-on-year to Rs 608.90 crore in the June quarter, while profit after tax increased 31.78 per cent to Rs 10.58 crore. Its operating margin, however, remained relatively slim at 3.40 per cent, underlining the importance of efficient execution and working-capital control in the trading-led business.
The advance-payment requirement is notable because receivable management has been an important focus area for the company. In its June-quarter investor presentation, BMW Ventures reported debtor days of 34, compared with 27 in FY25, even as inventory days improved to 53 from 61. The Tata Projects order structure could therefore support cash conversion during the execution period, although the overall financial benefit will depend on procurement costs, delivery and margins.
BMW Ventures said its promoters, promoter group and group companies have no interest in Tata Projects. It added that the transaction does not fall within the definition of a related-party transaction.
As of 2:42 PM on September 16, 2026, BMW Ventures shares were trading at Rs 53.88, up 4.08 per cent from the previous close of Rs 51.77. The stock was about 29.1 per cent below its 52-week high of Rs 76.00 and around 10.8 per cent above its 52-week low of Rs 48.64.
The immediate execution focus will be on delivering the TMT steel supplies within the stipulated eight-week period. The order adds an infrastructure-project customer to BMW Ventures' order flow at a time when the company is targeting further growth in its core steel franchise and adjacent fabrication operations.
