JSW Energy Completes 300 MW Thermal Power Plant Acquisition

JSW Energy announced the successful completion of the acquisition of 100 per cent equity share capital of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL), which owns and operates a 300 MW thermal power plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh. Following the acquisition, MCCPL has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

The acquired power plant has a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 195 MW (net) with Rajasthan discoms through PTC India, with a residual PPA tenure of around 14 years. Additionally, 5 per cent of power is supplied to the Chhattisgarh discom at variable cost, while the remaining approximately 64 MW capacity is sold in the merchant market. Coal supply is secured through a long-term fuel supply agreement with SECL under the SHAKTI scheme.

JSW Energy Rs 1,410 Crore Enterprise Value

The transaction values MCCPL at an enterprise value of Rs 1,410 crore. The acquired asset reported an EBITDA of approximately Rs 279 crore in FY26 and, according to the company, will be EBITDA and PAT accretive from day one, while also reducing net leverage and strengthening the balance sheet.

Following the acquisition, JSW Energy's installed operating capacity has increased to 14,835 MW (14.8 GW). The company currently operates 5,958 MW of thermal capacity, has 3,800 MW under Construction, and a further 1,200 MW brownfield expansion pipeline at its Mahanadi project.

JSW Energy Growth Pipeline

JSW Energy's locked-in generation capacity now stands at 32.4 GW, comprising 14.8 GW operational capacity, 13.6 GW under construction, and a 4 GW development pipeline. The company also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, including 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems. It aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity, 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, and carbon neutrality by 2050.

As of the June 2026 quarter, FII holding increased to 11.41 per cent from 9.74 per cent in the March 2026 quarter, while DII holding rose to 16.16 per cent from 14.29 per cent. During the same period, promoter holding declined to 66.53 per cent from 69.41 per cent, while public shareholding eased to 5.82 per cent from 6.44 per cent.
