Global Health Ltd (Medanta), in its board meeting held on March 25, 2026, approved multiple strategic initiatives aimed at expanding its healthcare and education footprint. The company has approved entering into a build-to-suit and lease agreement with Shripal Hospitality LLP and others to develop a 400+ bed multi-speciality hospital in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Under this arrangement, the partner will develop the hospital infrastructure, while Medanta will invest in interiors, medical equipment, and related facilities, with a total estimated investment of up to Rs 550 crore. The project is expected to be completed within approximately four years, subject to approvals, and is aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in Uttar Pradesh and catering to the growing demand for advanced healthcare in the region.

Further, the company has also revised its approach towards setting up a medical college. Earlier planned through a subsidiary, the board has now approved that the application will be made directly through the company, following regulatory changes that allow companies to establish medical colleges. The proposed medical college project has an estimated cost of Rs 322 crore and is aimed at building a pipeline of skilled medical professionals while enhancing healthcare infrastructure. Overall, these developments reflect Medanta’s focus on expansion, capacity addition, and long-term growth in both healthcare delivery and medical education.
