The views in the special report on exiting equity MFs in a falling market did make sense but would managing the portfolio tactically be meaningful for me as a retiree?
Your cover story on managing portfolio overlap was quite insightful and interesting. However, I wish to know how many funds should I have in my portfolio if I have five different financial goals? - Aarti Durgamati
Editor Responds : This actually depends upon the quantum of your investment and also the kind of financial goals you have. Ideally five to eight funds are more than enough, but if your investment amount is huge then you can further diversify to add more funds but the total funds still must not go beyond 15 as this would not just make your portfolio over-diversified but also make it quite difficult to manage.
